Lower Mountain Fork River Foundation Meeting Minutes

October, 2007

  1. We approved money to purchase radios for the game wardens. They gave an informative report on their enforcement activities, particularly around the Evening Hole/Lost Creek area. They have worked hard on various overt and covert operations.
  2. ODWC James Vincent brought us up to speed on several ODWC activities. Some highlights---they have requisitioned $20,000 for trees to be planted around the Evening Hole in December or January, 2008. They reported that we have both rainbow and brown trout hatching in the river. Our $1000 fish purchase was matched 3:1, so we got 1510 lbs of trout for Zone II. They are 9" minimum and at least 10% are over 14". They will be stocked throughout November. Three stockings have already occurred. As to the cold water project, they are creating a model from the data obtained last summer. There will be further testing next summer to determine how much air is needed to move the cold water to the right place. They will put up some additional signage in the Lost Creek/Evening Hole area to get full coverage. There will be no non-angling wading allowed in the red zones.
  3. Pat Waters reported on the Re-Regulation Dam low flow pipe project and $1000 was approved to test a way to cut off the water flow right above the pipes so they can be cleared.
  4. The 2008 One-Fly will be held Feb. 23,2008. There may be some minor change in start time and format.
  5. Joe Lanza, Terry Will, Roger Turner and Donnie Carter were elected to the board and Joe Lanza will be asked to assume the duties of Secretary, with Tom Atwood continuing as Treasurer.
